This reoccurring category features face masks I liked enough to use up, but did I like it enough to repurchase?
Items featured in this post include Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner, Midnight Paloma Detox Mask, GlamGlow InstaMud, GlamGlow Supermud and Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask.
Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner
This mask was part of a beauty subscription box I used to be subscribed to and it was my first intro to the Dr. Brandt line. It is a cooling, pore-purifying mask that is suppose to unclog and shrink the appearance of pores and cleanse skin. It has a cream consistency with blue beads that burst upon application. It has a bit of a cooling effect and it dries down without hardening and cracking in that annoying clay way.
Would I repurchase? It’s pricy for a 1 oz size ($55) and it’s not necessarily my favourite purifying mask I’ve ever used, but I do like how mild it is. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with more sensitive skin. Afterwards my skin definitely felt softer and better cleansed.
Midnight Paloma Detox Mask
I really need to stop including the Midnight Paloma in my round-ups. You know I love it. This is my… third? Fourth one? I love this mask because it’s gentle, versatile and smells like sweet cereal.
Would I repurchase? Yup, and I love how easy it is to repurchase now! When I first started using Midnight Paloma I would have to make a point of going to Eastside Flea to pick up a new jar and now Midnight Paloma is sold at a ton of local retailers, including Hills and The Latest Scoop.
GlamGlow InstaMud
My first time trying a bubble mask so I opted for a sample size. I loved how gentle it was on my skin and how it turns into a cushion the moment it comes in contact with your skin. I also love that it only needs to be worn for 60 seconds to be effective, making it perfect for on the go. It has bentonite and kaolin clay, witch hazel and helps revive dull and uneven skin.
Would I repurchase? I would! It’s so easy to use and the bubbling is fun. My skin felt refreshed and unlike a lot of masks that harden this is easy enough to wipe off with just a warm wet towel.
GlamGlow Supermud
Another GlamGlow mask I opted to get the sample of before splurging on the full size (it’s $77 yo, she is pricy.) This was the it mask for quite some time and has won countless awards. Formulated to clarify skin, the mask features exfoliating acids and active charcoals to combat acne and blemishes.
Would I repurchase? My skin is not as temperamental as it use to be. I don’t find clarifying or acne-specific masks particularly useful on my skin type. Despite having oily skin I find charcoal can be overly drying and this left my skin feeling quite tight. I would not repurchase this.
Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask
Fuck, I love a sleeping mask and if your skin is dry you should try them out. Think of it as a heavy cream moisturizer. While I don’t have dry skin, I do have dehydrated skin and like to give it a good moisture oompf every now and again. Again. I am all about sample sizes when it comes to skincare because it’s so personal. Glow Recipe makes the cutest packaged skincare and I was stoked to try this retinol mask. It aids with improving the look of uneven skintone, add mega-hydration and a gentle exfoliation.
Would I repurchase? Definitely. This is more in the window of price I am comfortable paying for skincare ($66 for 2.3 oz.) It’s gentle and perfect for anyone new to using retinol and mild enough to use often – I use it about twice a week!
