EMPTIES; Facial Cleansers

Picture

This reoccurring category features skincare products I liked enough to use up, but did I like it enough to repurchase? I am also getting better about posting more consistently, eh? #funemployment really frees up my time.

Items featured in this post include Midnight Paloma Calming Gel Cleanser, Mychelle Dermaceuticals Creamy Pumpkin Cleanser, One Love Organics Easy Does It Foaming Cleanser, Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser and Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash.

Midnight Paloma Calming Gel Cleanser

Am I the only person that uses a different cleanser in the AM vs the PM? My favourite day time cleanser is this Midnight Paloma Calming Gel Cleanser because it’s gentle and doesn’t strip my skin. Made locally here in Vancouver, BC plus with natural ingredients it leaves my skin feeling cleansed without feeling stripped.

Would I repurchase? Yes, I would BUT it’s currently being reformulated and is not available at the moment. Full disclosure, my first bottle of this cleanser was gifted to me but since the first cleanser I have repurchased one and then it was ripped away from me while I wait for it to be reformulated.

MyChelle Dermaceuticals Creamy Pumpkin Cleanser

The pumpkin phenomenon continues. I am always looking for new clean beauty brands to try out and when I found the MyChelle Dermaceuticals Creamy Pumpkin Cleanser in a mini size and on sale it seemed like a good opportunity to try it out. It was so rich, definitely as advertised and probably better suited for drier skin types. Super rich, no lather.

Would I repurchase? Definitely not. The scent was so heavy and the formula was too heavy for my skin-type. I wouldn’t even recommend this for dry-ish skin, you would have to have scales for skin to not find this too heavy.

One Love Organics Easy Does It Foaming Cleanser

The One Love Organics Easy Does It Foaming Cleanser is my go-to when I seemingly want to hit “reset” on my skin. Because I am reviewing products constantly sometimes my skin goes a bit haywire and I have to give it a bit of a break from any new formulas and this cleanser is my go-to cleanser for that.

Would I repurchase? Yup! It is the cleanser I am currently using now and it’s been perfect as the weather has been getting more brisk!

Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser

Picture

Every now and again I will use a cleanser that is a hands-on, does not play nice with my Clarisonic type of formula, like the Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser. Products with mud tend to dry my skin out however I found this one cleansing without caking my skin in drying mud. I did find that this one had to be applied with my hands and I couldn’t use my facial brush or face cloth with it. I like that it contains glycolic acid making it ideal for my skin is extra troublesome.

Would I repurchase? I would, but probably only in the summer since it’s such a deep cleansing cleanser that it seems best suited for my skin when I am extremely oily. It doesn’t do much in the way of melting makeup so this was also just a day time cleanser for me.

Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash

Picture

Living up to it’s name, the Origins Checks and Balances is the frothiest cleanser I have ever tried. If you want a product that seems to multiply like crazy with water look further. This cleanser is my choice night time cleanser because it works well with my Clarisonic and it melts off every little trace of makeup imaginable.

Would I repurchase? 100%! I bought this on a whim (aka: it was on sale) and since then I am more than happy to pay full price for it because I love it so much. It lasts a ridiculously long time so you really do get so much use out of it.

If your sunnies are always sliding down your nose If your sunnies are always sliding down your nose and leaving surprise cheek contour… hi, same. 🙃

Turns out it’s a low bridge nose thing (super common for Asian and BIPOC folks), which explains why most frames just… don’t sit right

These from @kaytran_eyewear? They actually stay put. No slipping, no cheek marks, no makeup all over the frames from my high cheekbones doing the most.
