EMPTIES; Haircare

Picture

This reoccurring category features hair products I liked enough to use up, but did I like it enough to repurchase? It takes me ages to finish any hair product. One of these items was something I brought with me when I moved here 6 years ago and I only just finished it this year.

Items featured in this post are Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk, Live Clean Argan Oil Leave-In Conditioner Spray, Bumble and Bumble Thickening Spray, AG Hair The Oil and S Factor Flat Iron Shine Spray.

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk

Picture

Does anyone else live and die by their dry shampoo? If I could buy this dry shampoo by the dozens I would. I was lucky enough to receive this bottle of Klorane dry shampoo in PR however it is not my first Klorane dry shampoo. I have used countless bottles of the Klorane formula and I can say without a doubt that it’s my favourite dry shampoo. It leaves no residue whatsoever and it’s super affordable. It is also available at drugstores plus it comes in a variety of formulas, including tinted for darker hair.

Would I repurchase it? Yup! I have been gifted this items in the past, however I will always buy this brand of dry shampoo whenever I see it on sale or whenever I’m running low. Like I’ve said before and will probably say a thousand times again, I am so lucky to receive PR so I am always trying lots of new products however when it comes to dry shampoo my go-to will always be this one.

(PS: It’s on sale at Shoppers currently.)

Live Clean Argan Oil Leave-in Conditioner Spray

Picture

I am a spray in-conditioner kind of gal. I find that traditional conditioner weighs my hair down a bit too much and usually opt for a leave in conditioner instead. I had never tried Live Clean products before and I was curious to try it out. Live Clean is a Canadian plant-based and eco-conscious brand with a wide range of personal care products, including hair, body and even baby products! This was a dual-phase conditioner with a extra nourishing layer of argan oil.

Would I repurchase it? I wouldn’t – but honestly it’s only because it wasn’t well suited for my hair. I am lucky to have pretty healthy hair and found that this formula to be a little too heavy for my tresses. If you have dry hair I do think that this spray would work wonders for you. It did leave my hair soft and helped with detangling. I am always on the hunt to find new plant-based products to become new favourites and I look forward to trying other formulas from Live Clean.

Bumble and Bumble Thickening Spray

Picture

This Bumble and Bumble spray was a point perk I picked up on a recent trip to Sephora. It claims to lift and volumize pre-blow dry and features wheat protein which helps improve overall feel and gloss of hair strands. Hair is made up primarily of protein so adding protein into your haircare routine helps hair look thicker and fuller.

Would I repurchase it? I would not buy this spray. Once again I just didn’t find it did anything for my hair, no matter how much I wore. Not meant for my hair type, Bumble and Bumble will still be one of my favourite hair brands however this spray seems to be a consumer favourite. With high ratings on Sephora other buyers swear by this spray however I found that it added no volume to my hair and left a gritty texture.

AG Hair The Oil

Picture

AG Hair is always one of my go-to salon brands when it comes haircare. The Oil features Moroccan argan oil and keratin protein. The oil is rich in antioxidants and Vitamin E keeping hair smooth while the keratin adds strength, elasticity and shine. Another reason why I am a die-hard AG Hair fan because they really stand behind the integrity of their ingredients. The argan oil is sustainably sourced, fair trade and organic.

Would I repurchase it? This argan oil formula from AG was much different than the formula from Live Clean and seemed to suit my hair type better. The oil was ultra-lightweight and not greasy at all. I only bought the mini size just to try it out but the next time I have the chance I’ll be buying the full sized version. Two pumps was more than enough for my hair to coat and repair split ends.

S Factor Flat Iron Shine Spray

Picture

This S Factor flat iron spray lasted me a life time. I brought this with me when I moved to Vancouver over 5 years ago and I only recently used it up. Not only does it protect my tresses from heat styling, it adds a boost of shine and smells delicious. I am genuinely so impressed that it lasted 5 plus years – it’s been so long that the packaging isn’t even current anymore!

Would I repurchase it? Absolutely! This is hands down my favourite heat protection spray I’ve ever tried however I cannot find it anywhere in Vancouver to save my life. I tried to use their sites’ salon finder but the page continues to crash on me. I checked all the major chains but was unable to track down a single bottle. I think it might be discontinued because I can only find it on Amazon.

I’ve always believed the spaces we spend time in a I’ve always believed the spaces we spend time in affect how we feel and work.

Rove Kyoto feels less like a traditional coworking space and more like somewhere you actually want to spend your day.

Inspired by Japanese minimalism, the design-forward space is built around calm and focused work environments, with warm wood, soft lighting, thoughtful details, quiet corners, and pieces from the Rove Concepts Kyoto Collection throughout, including standing desks that somehow make answering emails feel slightly more zen.

And on weekends, the space shifts into something entirely different: a lounge experience centred around matcha and Japanese-inspired hospitality.

Last June, I went on a life-changing trip to Peru Last June, I went on a life-changing trip to Peru with @intrepidtravel . We did the big adventures, like walking up to the Sun Gates at Machu Picchu, exploring the Amazon, and connecting with the local community.

But beyond the adventure, the trip also created a meaningful impact. It’s easy to think travel is just about what you take from a place. But sometimes, it’s also about what your presence gives back.

A simple lunch at AMA in the Sacred Valley turned into something more. Not just because it was a great meal, but because of the people behind it, mothers building a livelihood while caring for their kids, and a space that supports both.

That’s what makes trips like this feel so meaningful. The experiences stay with you, but so do the people, and the small ways your visit contributes.

That’s what The Intrepid Effect looks like to me: responsible travel that creates a positive effect in the local community long after I head home. What does it look like to you?

It might sound cheesy, but people cheering for you actually does help. I’m also so grateful to the @runasyouare community for not only supporting me through my race but their open invite to be a part of their cheer squad year after year. Tell me who else is going to book a DJ and a choir for a cheering station?!
