FIRST IMPRESSIONS; Peace Out Skincare

There are two types of people in this world; people who get deep satisfaction of seeing the gunk on your pore strips after use and people are fucking lying.

I am someone who LOVES it and while I know it’s a good thing when my extractions are minimal, I am always disappointed when my strips are relatively clear. Imagine my pure joy when a new skincare line with patches galore, Peace Out launched on Sephora’s site.

What makes this different than drugstore pore strips is that each strip is infused with skincare ingredients and is meant to be worn for an extended period of time (6 hours and even overnight!) This type of strip is what is called a hydrocolloid patch. It’s more gentle, protects the area from bacteria and they are water binding (so it dries out any excess oil without disrupting the moisture on your skin.)

Here are my thoughts on the three different versions available on the Sephora site… I didn’t include any of the close up photos of any of the gunk because maybe we have different kinks.

Peace Out Dark Spots

I was intimated by the Peace Out Dark Spots because I’ve never had any microneedling done and it doesn’t seem like the type of thing I should be doing myself at home. While I know that this isn’t as deep as real microneedling, the concept is still the same. Microneedling slightly punctures the skin to help ingredients penetrate deeper. These patches have niacinamide (one of my favourite skincare ingredients to combat uneven skintone) and tranexamic acid.

It’s recommended that you use it at least twice a week for two weeks to see noticeable results. I noticed a difference pretty quickly and would definitely recommend this product to my friends and family!

Cost: $37 CAD

Peace Out Wrinkles

Another microneedling product, this time focused on wrinkles and fine lines. The Peace Out Wrinkles. It is formulated with a lot of skincare heavyweights when it comes to ingredients; retinol, vitamin C and peptides. The before and after photos online are amazing, but I can’t say I have any photos like that to share. Hard to say for certain if the product is effective or not because I don’t really have any fine line or wrinkles to try and minimize the look of.

Cost: $37 CAD

Peace Out Pores

Pore strips are my shit and this was the item I was most excited to try. The Peace Out Pores comes 4 blackhead nose strips and 4 pore strips. Unlike the ones from the drugstore you don’t need to wet your skin first and no tearing when you peel it off! It doesn’t have the same ripping sensation as the drugstore alternative and works to combat oil and skin texture but doesn’t do much in terms of removing blackheads.

Cost: $25

When I first moved to Vancouver, I started blogging about the brands I’d discover at craft fairs and pop-ups. What’s so special about markets is that when you buy from a small maker, the person you’re talking to is usually the person who made it.

That’s why public events matter. Sure, I get hundreds of press releases a week—but some of the best finds are the ones that aren’t backed by PR. They’re just passionate people putting their work out there.
