MAKEUP REVIEW; Evalina Beauty (PLUS A Giveaway!)

Picture

A long overdue makeup review on Evalina Beauty, a new cruelty free Vancouver based cosmetic brand. Currently available only through their site, Evalina Beauty prides themselves on products that will help you achieve a natural glam that is fuss-free and easy to use. The do also sell a sponge (pictured) and brush sets but part of the appeal of Evalina is that the product and your hands are all the tools you need to create a selfie worthy makeup look.

For the review I used the Evalina sponge for the Dew Beauty Benefit Cream but for the highlighter and shimmer stick I just used my fingertips to blend. They also recently launched a cheek and lip stain that I assume can also be applied with your fingertips.

Dew Beauty Benefit Cream

I’m usually not one for bb creams because I am a FULL COVERAGE kind of gal but in the past few months I’ve been opting for makeup free more often than not. Address the obvious first, the shade range leaves a lot to be desired, however I do find that tinted moisturizers usually have limited shades available. I wear shade medium and find that since the coverage is sheer it blends into my skin nicely. It applies like a moisturizer and it does look like my skin, but better.

Cost: $44

Radiant Glaze Water-Based Highlighter

Glow goals achieved with this water-based highlighter. It’s very rosy in hue and a little goes a long way. It is a bit more shimmer than I normally wear for day to day but it does layer well with the bb cream. I loved how this dried down to a semi-matte finish with no stick to it and it that was easy to use with just my finger tips. I want to note that that it was extremely pigmented which might make it a bit trickier for those newer to makeup to use (you gotta work fast so it doesn’t dry down streaky) and because of how opaque it is you’ll either love this or hate it. I have opted to use it more like a liquid eyeshadow instead of a highlighter.

Cost: $39

Shimmer Eyeshadow Stick

The Evalina shimmer shadow sticks come in three staple shades; a copper, a rose gold and a pewter and they pack a lot of glitter without being gritty. I’m usually not one for eyeshadow sticks but these are so easy to use. You could easily use one stick and blend it all over the eyelid or any combo for an easy eye look. This is one of the products I would recommend most because the pigmentation and formula rivals those of higher end expensive brands.

Cost: $26 for each or $65 for the trio

Precision Liquid Eyeliner

THIS EYELINER IS THE SHIT. Seriously, it might be the most “boring” product from the collection but this is also the product I was most impressed with. This felt tip is so fine and the formula is a true deep black. It glides on so easily and stays put all day. I am a cat-eyed liner fanatic and I imagine that I will run out of this liner fairly quickly and this is definitely something I would repurchase.

Cost: $32

Moisturizing Lip Gloss

The last few years I have been all about the resurgence of glosses and this is no exception. I received the deeper of the two lipgloss shades (Berry) however it didn’t feel too dark to wear day to day. It’s a slightly deeper shade than my natural lip colour. I liked this formula a lot. It’s not sticky at all and does provide some moisture.

Cost: $28.50

If your sunnies are always sliding down your nose If your sunnies are always sliding down your nose and leaving surprise cheek contour… hi, same. 🙃

Turns out it’s a low bridge nose thing (super common for Asian and BIPOC folks), which explains why most frames just… don’t sit right

These from @kaytran_eyewear? They actually stay put. No slipping, no cheek marks, no makeup all over the frames from my high cheekbones doing the most.
