Their packaging and marketing (especially their Instagram stories) really intrigued me about the brand but it was when I saw the price point I knew I had to try it. Evio Beauty is SO affordable. The most expensive item is $22ish dollars.
(In this post I will be reviewing the makeup, not the skincare because I haven’t had a chance to use the skincare long enough to know how it performs. I also don’t have two products; the Concealer by Evelyn Iona and the Creamy Lip-spo Liner.)
Moisturizing Primer
Complexion products are always my favourite to try because I have yet to find a holy-grail primer/foundation combo. On the site the primer claims to moisturize while providing a matte finish while ingredients like green tea to soothe and minimize the look of pores or any redness. My first impression was how much I loved the package with the soft touch element and pump.
It applies so smoothly and leaves a dewy-matte finish and my skin look goods immediately after application. The Moisturizing Primer seems to bridge the gap between skincare and makeup. It’s a little thicker than other primers I’ve used before so I find a bit goes a long way. When first dispersed the product can be a bit hard so I do have to really warm it up between my fingers to “melt” the product before applying to my face. Once applied it does leave a nice matte finish while combating texture leaving a smoother base for foundation.

Character Concealer

Let’s address the obvious, the shade range leaves much to be desired however their site does say that there are new shades coming in 2020. I recently noticed that a lot of clean-beauty brands were the worst in terms of shade range and I assumed that it had more to do with budget/marketing than anything else. A few weeks ago I had the privilege of speaking to someone from a different clean-beauty brand and they informed me that when it comes to natural ingredients, deeper pigments are harder to source/harvest and a lot of traditional clean pigments have a bit of an orange undertone.
That all being said, I was curious to try the Character Concealers from Evio. Shade names include Amazing and Brave and I opted for the shade C3 because it was slightly fairer than my actual skin tone. I usually use concealer as under-eye brightener instead of blemish cover up and I found this coverage to be very full. I would even compare it to the cult classic, Tarte Shape Tape, but much more moisturizing and dewy. Because of the heavier coverage I preferred to applying this with my finger tips or with a blending sponge – not a makeup brush.

Cream Blush

Listen, my skin is oily AF and I will be the first to admit that I usually go into trying cream products disliking them already. When it comes to cheek products my face sees nothing but powder. I often worry that cream-based blushes will slip on my face and not be pigmented enough or leave weird patches on my face because blending requires a bit more finessing with cream products.
Available in two universal, buildable shades, the Evio Cream Blush claims that three dots is all you need. I do like that this product is multi purposed and can be worn on the eyes or even on the lips for a monochromatic look. The shade I got was B1 and I admit, I was worried about how vibrant it looked in the tube prior to application. Luckily the colour is much more sheer and can be built up to whatever intensity you would prefer. I ended up being really surprised by how much I loved this blush – also it’s $10! What a fucking steal.

Lip-spo Gloss

Another multi-use product, the Evio site states that their lip gloss, Lip-spo, can be used as a lip product or a blush. I personally find the formula to dewy for my liking to use it as a face product since it’s packed full of shea butter, but I do love it on the lips. I have three out of five shades and every time I wear it someone either asks what I’m wearing or compliments my extra plush look.
The shade Val is the perfect hint of colour yet still looks like my lips, whereas Lise is a bit more fun and has a fine gold shimmer to it. Brooke (the deepest shade) was the trickiest for me due to how streaky it is. I assume that this has a lot to due with how deep the colour is, however if I have more time to carefully apply my gloss in thin layers it works perfectly fine. The Lip-spo Gloss is probably my favourite Evio Beauty product and I will probably buy the other two shades at some point.

Longest Lasting Eyeliner
I am not entirely sure if this is the same eyeliner that they’re currently selling on their site because the packaging and name are slightly different.
The formula is a bit more “wet” than I prefer and the pigmentation was more on the grey-black side than the jet black I am used to. This product was so finicky and hard to apply the clean wing I usually wear. Application was a bit streaky and it never dried down to a true matte finish leaving tons of residue on my crease. Considering how much slip there was while applying this product was really difficult to remove, I am probably going to end up gifting this product to a friend.
Black Mascara

This product is no longer on their site so I’m not sure if it’s discontinued or being reformulated, but I thought I would give my two cents nonetheless.
The brush on the mascara is a wing-shaped brush and I do prefer brush mascaras to ones that have comb applicators. It didn’t do much in terms of volumizing and it reminded me a lot of the Glossier Lash Slick. It provided a bit of lengthening and separation, while leaving lashes feeling soft. It also stayed put, no transfer or smudging throughout the day. All that being said, I didn’t love this mascara since I prefer a bit more drama to my lash look.
