It would be easy for me to say 2019 sucked. Shitty things that happened included: having to face one of my biggest fears (going to the dentist) and I actually ended up having to get a tooth extracted and all the dental work drained my saving accounts, losing my job which resulted in my imposter syndrome going into overdrive and having to cancel my trip home for the holidays since it wasn’t financially reasonable to travel, having to say goodbye to people who mean the world to me.
But this year also brought me so much joy, accomplishments, and fuck-yeah moments I want to celebrate as well so I wanted to take the opportunity to praise those things instead. If you’re wondering why I know when all this stuff happened it’s because I keep a paper agenda and take photos of fucking everything. Buckle in.
(Also, this past year I have written more consistently than I ever had before – so thank y’all for being here.)

Bonus
- I was able to form a new wonderful group of friends that I affectionately refer to as my band of misfits – it’s hard to imagine a version of me that doesn’t include Xanthe, Lydia, Hannah, Mikey and Matt. (Matt Osborn, you do not get lumped into this group because I sunk my claws into you early.)
- I have also watched some of my best friends become mothers this past year and I cannot not even begin to express in words how rewarding it has been.
- Friends have moved away to follow their passions and as much as I miss them I love seeing them thrive.
- I was also recently telling a friend about how I’ve never been on a bad date. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been on plenty of boring dates, but none that are bad. This trend continued this year and I went on some really great first dates in 2019.
- Also, special shout out to all the brands and PR firms I work with year round. I am so lucky to have such great relationships with some of y’all and I couldn’t work with a better bunch of peeps.
- I have been absolutely astonished by the overwhelming kindness that has been shown to me, especially when I lost my job. People who I didn’t think cared about me reached out and the support was almost overwhelming. I am honestly getting a bit misty-eyed just thinking about how much your kindness has meant to me the past few months.
