Have y’all seen (Un)Well on Netflix yet? Specifically the first one on essential oils? I found that the show covered a good range of claims, from aromatherapy to some of the most outlandish claims and it definitely made me re-evaluate how I use essential oils and what the real benefits are. I was excited when Simply Earth reached out to me asking if I was open to receiving and reviewing their products because at first glance they checked off every box; they are NOT a MLM, ethically source with no additives, partial proceeds to charity and (one of the most important things to me) they don’t gate keep essential oils and wellness. Their e-book on essential oils for beginners and other resources are free to download on their site, no membership required!
You can shop their site normally or you can subscribe to a monthly box for $39 that comes with 4 essential oil blends and accessories plus recipe cards. With your first box you also receive a bonus box (for free!) of essential oil essentials, such as coconut oil, almond oil, 8 rollers and 8 dropper bottles! I checked their site and this subscription at any point so even subscribing for one month is a great value to get all that for less than $50.
With essential oils there are so many options to chose from in the market and as an average consumer, it’s hard to say what makes one more “worth it” than another. Is it a sleek matte bottle that hits the marketing nail on the head every time? Is it being the most affordable on the market? I honestly don’t know. But my first impression of the Simply Earth oils in comparison to other oils I’ve had in the past is that it’s a HUGE bottle – 15 mL actually. That’s 50% more than… you know… those two other brands we all know. The value is also better. Just comparing the peppermint essential oil, Simply Earth sells theirs for $13 with competitors selling their (smaller) bottles for $15-20 each.
Another thing that I noticed is that these oils have some serious drip. I don’t mean swag, I mean literal drip, just be mindful that it seems to flow out of the bottle a bit more effortlessly than other brands. If you have a smaller diffuser I would recommend making a master blend and using a few drops of that instead of blending every time you use your diffuser. I have a smaller diffuser and I used the recipe for their “Defeat the Reek” blend which is 5 drops in my diffuser and it was POTENT. Not necessarily a bad thing, just something to be mindful of.
You really can’t beat this value. Truly, a great gift or splurge for anyone looking to learn more about essential oils. The September box (with the bonus box) is a $190 value that you get for $39 PLUS 6 recipe cards and everything you need to make different blends, sprays and roll-ons. The back of the recipe cards also break down what came in your box, which oils are kid safe, pregnancy safe, cat and/or dog safe. You also get a sneak peek of the next month’s box and info on which charity/organization Simply Earth has partnered with to stop human trafficking (plus where to find additional deets!) You also get a new bonus box every 6 months.
(I also love that it comes with stickers you can apply to your bottles after for ease of use.)
Did I feel like a potions master? Absolutely, call me Severus Snape. I’m with most of y’all when it comes to essential oils in the sense that I am highly critical. I scoured that website to see if I could find anything about them being an MLM because I did not want to be bamboozled and I definitely wouldn’t feel like a POS for recommending a pyramid scheme to y’all. It was also important to me that their subscription service doesn’t lock you in for the rest of your life (hey, Steve Nash – I’m looking at you) and that they don’t make absolutely outlandish claims, because let’s get real. If pure plant juice sold for less than $20 could cure cancer you wouldn’t be hearing for the first time on my shit blog.
So, if you are looking to get into blending your own essential oil products at home I would recommend this! I genuinely think that this is a great value and would make a great gift. I do have a code that you can use for a $40 gift card that will be included in your first purchase that you can use for your next purchase, even the next box so it works out to be a buy one box get the bonus box plus another 4 blends for free. Cross my heart that this code is not an affiliate code meaning I make approximately 0% commission on it and it only saves you dolla, dolla bills.
The code is VICKIFREE
