VICKI TRIES; Frank and Oak Style Plan

I’ll be the first to admit that I am not the Frank and Oak girl. I aspire to be the Frank and Oak girl but I recognize that I’m not. The brand is a Certified B Corp, ethically priced, impeccably tailored and perfect for the modern day to night wardrobe. I am just a bit more colourful, scandalous and all over louder than the Frank and Oak dream girl, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love the quality of their pieces.

We all know the Frank and Oak Style Plan, right? Their ads are hard to miss and to be honest, who doesn’t love the idea of a style plan? Clothes, shoes and accessories straight to your door picked out by a specialist is like a gift to yourself from yourself.

Plus it’s not like I get to go to retail store right now so might as well try a new way to refresh the wardrobe.

Style Plan Quiz

I could waste hours filling out quizzes on Buzzfeed to find out what kind of Subway sandwich I am, your girl loves a quiz. So this style quiz was a lot of fun to fill out. Not only did they ask about my sizes and what I’m looking for, but they ask questions about colours and prints you like (or don’t like) to wear and what your budget for different types of clothing are.

MAJOR bonus points for me are that you can note that ethical and sustainable manufacturing play a role in your purchasing decisions.

Based off of this quiz 3 items are picked out for your Style Plan.

Style Confirmation

Prior to reviewing your style plan you can leave notes and requests for your stylist, such as requesting new tops or focusing primarily on accessories.

Being able to review my box prior to shipping was a big selling point for me because I don’t like to be completely surprised. This gave me the opportunity to remove the white sneakers picked out for me since I didn’t want another pair as well as add in a yellow sweatshirt.

My Picks

I am always weary of buying jeans online so I thought I would play it safe and pick out a white cami and a butter yellow pullover. Both pieces are from their minimal line, focused on sustainability.

Once they arrived I was impressed with the great quality and how true to image both items were. Sizing is always tricky for me because I tend to always want to size up to a large to accommodate how busty I am.

The cami was a bit too large in the body, but I know that sizing down it would be too fitted in the bust so I am opting to return that item. All I had to do was log in online, find the item on my profile and request a shipping label and one was emailed to me immediately.

The yellow pullover is everything I love about the oversized sweater look. The drop sleeves are ballooned while the overall fit is a boxy crop. I also sized up for this style in case in shrinks in the wash so it can keep it’s boxy fit.

The Value

There is a lot about the Frank and Oak Style Plan that makes it a great value. The way that it works is that you receive 20% off retail, shipping is free, returns are free, you can skip months without a fee.

The only cost associated with it that isn’t related to the items is if you return all the items in the box, in which case you would be charged a $25 styling fee.

For the two items I received the subtotal cost was $114 CAD.

The Verdict

I was super impressed easy the online selection process is and it’s like getting marketing emails but better. Instead of getting emails daily about everything new at Frank and Oak I just get an email once a month that pretty much says “here are the things we think you would like, do you want them and if yes, can we also extend a 20% discount?”

Because customizing is easy I can be mindful of budget and if I am shopping for any particular occasions. PLUS the fact that it is easy to skip a month is a huge selling point.

If nothing else, this was just a lot of fun to try out. I was curious to see if the quiz and stylist could get a good grasp of what my personal style is and I will say that if the cami fit the way I had envisioned I would have kept everything from the box.

It’s worth noting as well that the packaging is my preferred way to receive clothes. It was shipped in a plain, easy to recycle box, there was no poly bags, and no additional papers. It doesn’t even get mailed with the shipping label, you have to request one which limits the amount of needless waste, even if it is recyclable.

If you’re interested in trying it you can use my referral link to save $15 off your first box (you can even use that to get $15 off of one item if you wanted!) which will also hear me a small credit as well.

Rove Kyoto feels less like a traditional coworking space and more like somewhere you actually want to spend your day.

Inspired by Japanese minimalism, the design-forward space is built around calm and focused work environments, with warm wood, soft lighting, thoughtful details, quiet corners, and pieces from the Rove Concepts Kyoto Collection throughout, including standing desks that somehow make answering emails feel slightly more zen.

And on weekends, the space shifts into something entirely different: a lounge experience centred around matcha and Japanese-inspired hospitality.

Last June, I went on a life-changing trip to Peru Last June, I went on a life-changing trip to Peru with @intrepidtravel . We did the big adventures, like walking up to the Sun Gates at Machu Picchu, exploring the Amazon, and connecting with the local community.

But beyond the adventure, the trip also created a meaningful impact. It’s easy to think travel is just about what you take from a place. But sometimes, it’s also about what your presence gives back.

A simple lunch at AMA in the Sacred Valley turned into something more. Not just because it was a great meal, but because of the people behind it, mothers building a livelihood while caring for their kids, and a space that supports both.

That’s what makes trips like this feel so meaningful. The experiences stay with you, but so do the people, and the small ways your visit contributes.

That’s what The Intrepid Effect looks like to me: responsible travel that creates a positive effect in the local community long after I head home. What does it look like to you?

It might sound cheesy, but people cheering for you actually does help. I’m also so grateful to the @runasyouare community for not only supporting me through my race but their open invite to be a part of their cheer squad year after year. Tell me who else is going to book a DJ and a choir for a cheering station?!
